Hunt for kidnapper’s car

By Lia Bichel
POLICE set up a caravan at Bunnings, Narre Warren this week in hope of finding more information about the attempted abduction of a young boy last week.
They also released further information about the man they are looking for.
Police said they are looking for a black four door sedan with a spoiler, dark coloured windows and a Western Australia registration plate. The last two numbers are believed to be 73.
The car is also believed to have square shaped tail lights and chrome star shaped wheel trims with small red circles in the centre of the wheel.
They also believe that the brown T-shirt the man was wearing had a distinctive fox emblem on it.
The new information comes less than a week after a 10-year-old boy was left injured and traumatised after a man tried to abduct him about 4.50pm on 25 January.
The incident occurred in Bunnings car park. Police said the boy was in the back of a ute waiting for his mother who had gone shopping when a man approached him and asked him if he wanted lollies and told him to follow him to his car.
When the boy refused, the man reached into the car and tried to pull him out. The boy managed to break free and call his mother on his mobile phone.
The man walked away and drove off in the dark coloured car.
He was described as being about 25 years old, caucasian with light brown hair, medium to fit build and wearing a light brown T-shirt and jeans.
Narre Warren Detective Sergeant Geoffrey Rumble said he was hopeful someone would come forward with information. “The Bunnings car park, at any time of day, has cars and people coming and going,” he said. “We are really hopefully that someone has seen something.”
Police are appealing for anyone with information about this incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au
