Fast-paced farce with a twist

THE West Gippsland Arts Centre is opening its 2011 main stage season with a bang.
Malthouse Theatre’s ‘A Commercial Farce’ takes on the traditional fast-paced farce – but with a twist.
The show centres on Bill, an experienced director trying to get his latest production on track before the curtains go up in less than 24 hours.
But things are unravelling, and fast.
Manager of the West Gippsland Arts Centre, Rob Robson said the play was driven by wit, cynicism and thigh-slapping humour.
“I think it’s always good to begin with something people can enjoy and have a good laugh about,” Mr Robson said.
“Recent events and disasters just make it even more relevant right now to give people something they can just escape into.”
The production also premiered at the Malthouse last year and will be showing at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Tuesday 22 February and Wednesday 23 February at 8pm. Bookings can be made through the West Gippsland Arts Centre’s box office, at Baw Baw Shire’s Customer Service Centre in Trafalgar, by phoning on 5624 2456 or online at www.wgac.org.au
Audiences are advised the production contains smoke effects, strobe lighting, loud noise and infrequent coarse language.
