Jacky’s awash with friends

By Lia Bichel
JACKY Timmins 50th birthday party will go down in history.
The Narre Warren resident prepared to celebrate the big five-0 with her close friends and husband, only to find almost 40 people – and five inches of water – waiting in her yard.“My daughter Romy organised a surprise birthday for me,” Mrs Timmins said. “It was an absolute washout.”
Mrs Timmins’ friends pitched in to clean up the water under the pergola and placed towels in front of the house to prevent water from seeping in.
The blow-up swimming pool which was in the Timmins’ backyard, had to be drained because the pressure from the rain was causing it to burst. “We were cleaning up all night,” Mrs Timmins said. “It was a shame Romy went through all the effort and the (storm) happened.”
About 15 people from across the state were unable to make the party due to the floods and traffic chaos, but that didn’t prevent Mrs Timmins from celebrating her special day, proving blood is thicker than water.
“It still ended up being a good night. We stayed inside and still had a lot of fun,” she said.
“My daughter went to such great lengths to throw the surprise party. I am very proud of her.”
