THE very popular Berwick and District Show is just around the corner.
Families are in for a weekend packed with loads of fun and excitement at Victoria’s oldest agricultural and horticultural show.
The event, which will be held at Akoonah Park on Saturday and Sunday, will feature modern attractions such as the Empire FMX Motorbikes and V8 Tracksill Utes along with other show favourites such as whip cracking, dog jumping, gumboot throwing and fireworks.
Show sponsor City of Casey mayor Cr Shar Balmes encouraged all show-goers to stop by the council exhibit at the eastern end of the main pavilion, to find out more about the services available to Casey residents.
“Our interactive exhibit will offer giveaways, a range of community information and children’s activities,” Cr Balmes said.
“Children and young people who attend school in Casey will love our Super Sleuth competition.
“The answers to all the competition questions can be found in the council exhibit and first prize is a $400 voucher to go towards a brand new bike helmet.”
The competition winner will be drawn by the mayor at 3pm on Sunday. If the winner is not present on the day, they will be notified by phone and their name will be published in the local newspapers.
Melbourne Football Club players and mascot, Ronald Deeman, will also be visiting the City of Casey exhibit with giveaways and club information.
The Berwick and District Show will be held on 26 and 27 February at Akoonah Park on Princes Highway, Berwick. Entry fees apply.
