A MAN who had his licence for 12 days has lost it for 12 months after he was caught driving more than 45 km over the speed limit in Narre Warren.
At 3.30pm on 12 April, a Narre Warren man, 18, was caught driving 138km in an 80km zone on Princes Highway.
Casey Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch said the man had asked police to let him off.
Police, however, impounded his vehicle for 48 hours and suspended his licence for 12 months.
“It’s sheer stupidity, it’s just unbelievable. For someone to be caught doing that type of speed is beyond belief, particularly during the school holidays and leading up to Easter,” he said. “This is the type of things police are trying to deter.”
