HOW disappointing it was to open this week’s edition of the News and find no coverage whatsoever of the opening round of local football and netball.
At Casey Fields a huge crowd attended the game between two local sides Cranbourne and Doveton, a similarly large crowd watched the game between Hampton Park and Devon Meadows and at Keysborough the Tooradin Seagulls turned it on against the Burras.
However, there was not one word in our local paper about any of this.
Instead a full colour spread was given to a game between two VFL sides played over in Ballarat.
Let the national dailies cover games in that competition.
The local paper should report local news about local people. What’s the point of a local paper if you don’t do this?
Danny Mulqueen,
Cranbourne.
Editor’s note: Fair point Danny. We clearly dropped the ball on this occasion but you can be assured the footy coverage will return from next week.
What about local footy?
