Doin’ it for Dee

By Danielle Galvin
ALMOST $20,000 was raised on Friday night for Deanne Sutherland, a Berwick resident who is fighting against the clock to treat advanced breast cancer.
The Doin’ it for Dee fundraiser was a fun night of dancing, delicious finger food, a fashion parade and a tradie showing off his best moves.
Karen Clements, owner of a local boutique, and Jodie Radings, wanted to host a fun night for Berwick ladies to support Dee’s cause.
They organised a fundraiser in just three weeks, with a silent auction and raffle to raise money for Dee.
The fashion parade included clothes from Karen’s boutique, Cosmo Couture, as well as bags and shoes from Autumn Rose, a shop in Berwick.
The tradesman was shy at first, but he strutted his stuff down the runway and one lucky lady bought him to fix up a few things around her house.
Cosmo Couture will be having a sale to raise even more funds for Dee. All proceeds from sales of clothing will go towards Dee’s chemotherapy.
Karen wants to thank everyone that helped bring the night together.
“There’s so many people to thank for putting it together. But Jo put together the silent auction, Ross and Leoni took care of the catering, and Jodie hosted the night. It was a huge effort for everyone involved,” she says.
Anyone wanting to support Dee’s cause should visit Cosmo Couture, at 46 to 48 Intrepid Street in Berwick, where the sale is on now. The website for the boutique is www.cosmocouture.com.
