EIGHT years of hard work and dedication were celebrated by the Doveton Eumemmerring community at Myuna Farm recently.
The Doveton Eumemmerring community, City of Casey and the Department of Human Services celebrated their successes as part of the Doveton Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal project.
Residents and stakeholders celebrated the conclusion of the project and the release of the Doveton Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal Final Report 2003-2011.
Some of the long list of accomplishments achieved during the project include the formation of the Doveton Eumemmerring Township Association; creating a community calendar filled with new events including the annual Doveton Show and Australia Day celebration, the monthly open mic night and weekly fresh food market at Myuna Farm; establishing the Doveton Eumemmerring Resident of the Year Awards to recognise and celebrate the contributions of residents annually and the development of business breakfasts.
Residents, traders and government representatives have also worked together to help reduce crime and increase safety in the community.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes congratulated those who participated over the eight years of the project.
“I’m so impressed with the dedication and success of all those who contributed to this project,” Cr Balmes said.
“This is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when governments work in real partnership with community groups and local residents.”
To continue to build upon these achievements and ensure community priorities continue to be listened to and acted upon, the Doveton Eumemmerring Township Plan 2011-2014 has been developed and is available at www.neighbourhoodrenewal.vic.gov.au
The plan is a result of extensive consultation with the Doveton Eumemmerring community.
It provides neighbourhood agreement upon how community priorities will continue to be listened to and acted upon, and includes commitments from a wide range of stakeholders.
Residents of Doveton Eumemmerring are also encouraged to join the Doveton Eumemmerring Township Association by calling 9791 1449 or emailing detownshipcommittee@gmail.com
