IT MAY be wet and cold outside, but a group of green-thumbed locals won’t let the weather deter them from getting in the garden.
Jim Passingham and other members of the Narre Warren North Uniting Church are inviting Casey residents to attend a free rose pruning and composting workshop on 9 July.
Mr Passingham said the workshops would be hosted by a member of the Casey Council and two members of the congregation who have rose pruning expertise.
He said this was the first time the church was holding the workshop and hoped people from all over the municipality would attend.
“We are trying to reach out to the wider community,” Mr Passingham said.
The workshops are not the first thing the Narre Warren North United Church is doing to benefit local residents. The church recently celebrated the grand opening of the Narre Warren Op Shop. Some of the shop’s proceeds will be used to financially support community groups and projects.
Mr Passingham said he encouraged residents to attend the free rose pruning workshop at 10am and the free composting workshop at 11am at the Narre Warren North Uniting Church, corner of Main Street and Tom Jones Court.
