TWO sleeping babies were hit by rocks thrown through their bedroom windows recently.
Police are investigating a spate of incidents where rocks were thrown through windows of houses and cars, mostly in Cranbourne West and Lynbrook. Similar incidents have also occurred near Berwick.
Detective Constable Tom Brown said in the past week, rocks have been thrown through 22 houses in Cranbourne and Lynbrook. Fifteen of those houses were hit on 15 June.
Det Const Brown said people were lucky to escape injury, including two babies who were sleeping in front rooms of two different houses.
“Fortunately no-one was injured, but this behaviour is reckless behaviour endangering life,” Det Const Brown said.
“We believe these are random attacks in specific locations carried out by the same people.”
The rocks are all similar, Det Const Brown said. “They are river bed rock, sandstone, smooth,” he said.
“They vary in shape from about four to seven inches and about two inches in length.”
Two people in a white car have been seen in the areas at the time of the incidents.
“We do not know the make ofthe car, but people have told us they have seen a white hatchback with possibly two young males wearing hoodies,” Det Const Brown said.
“Another distinctive feature of the car is that it is very noisy. People who have heard it say that it sounds like a V8.”
Any victims, or witnesses to any of the incidents are asked to contact Det Const Tom Brown on 9705 3112, their local police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
