Help for flood affected

CASEY residents affected by the floods in February can benefit from a Flood Recovery Support Program.
The City of Casey has been co-ordinating an integrated and comprehensive community recovery response, which has involved working closely with relevant State and Commonwealth authorities and departments, as well as local agencies and flood-affected residents, City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes said.
“As part of the ongoing recovery process, a Flood Recovery Support Program provided by Connections UnitingCare has been implemented with funding provided by the State Government, through the Department of Human Services (DHS),” she said.
Connections UnitingCare supports individuals and families with a range of initiatives designed to promote recovery including providing assistance with applications, advocacy for access to services, assisted referrals, outreach work and co-ordination of services.
Residents wanting to access the Flood Recovery Support Program are encouraged to contact Connections UnitingCare on 9705 3939.
Flood-affected residents can also apply for the Victorian Floods Disaster Relief Funds which close on 1 August, 2011.
The Victorian Floods Disaster Relief Fund and DHS are conducting an information session for residents to discuss the application process and assist in the completion of application forms.
The session will be held on 8 July, from 10am until 6pm, at the City of Casey Civic Centre, meeting room 7, Magid Drive, Narre Warren.
