GET on the Douglas brothers if they front at the Cranbourne harness racing meeting on Saturday night.
The reason’s simple.
Glenn and Daryl Douglas – who hail from Strathfieldsaye, a suburb of Bendigo – starred at the most recent fixture at Cranbourne last Thursday.
That’s when they teamed up to take the training and driving honours.
The brothers produced Palazzo Bromac to score an upset win over odds-on favourite Because I Can in the Ultra Signs Pace.
The four-year-old son of Falcon Seelster only had a moderate season as a three-year-old, after arriving from New Zealand.
However, he has been knocking on the door with solid runs at his most recent outings at Ballarat.
On Thursday night, Palazzo Bromac stalked the favourite for the entire journey from his good trailing draw, but punters were nonetheless surprised at his ability to reel in Because I Can in a sizzling 28.5 final split.
The Douglas boys later combined to win the Decron Horse Car Pace with another Kiwi import, Lights And Music.
The win was not without its share of dramas, with the gelding breaking stride at the start before producing a searching three wide run to find the lead with a lap to run.
Palazzo Bromac had three metres to spare over local Travtiano on the line, with Power Of Babel a metre away, third.
Brothers set to surprise
