MEMBERSHIP start-up fees have dropped at three local leisure centres due to financial pressures on local residents from increased living costs.
Casey ARC, Endeavour Hills Leisure Centre and Casey RACE, which are managed by the YMCA on behalf of the City of Casey, will drop prices until 24 October.
Endeavour Hills Leisure Centre Manager Matt Spencer said that it was a timely campaign.
He said that research had shown regular exercise was a proven way to improve mental health, lose weight, reduce stress and to help prevent and manage chronic health conditions.
“We want to continue to support everyone into healthier lifestyles, and to do this we have removed one of the barriers,” Mr Spencer said.
“With no start-up fee on membership everyone can enjoy the benefits and look after their physical and mental health if they’re feeling the pinch.”
Mr Spencer said being a member of a YMCA managed facility is different to being a member of other gym facilities.
“The YMCA offers no lock-in contracts, qualified staff on hand at all times and includes health club planning sessions, program shows and check-ins at no additional cost, to ensure members are succeeding with their goals,” Mr Spencer said.
“We also know the benefits of regular exercise do not just apply for adults, so we welcome members from as young as 10 years old under our youth gym program.”
YMCA managed facilities have family memberships and concession memberships to enable priority access for the entire community.
