ANYONE interested in people with mental illnesses participating in the workforce are encouraged to make a submission to a Victorian parliamentary inquiry.
Casey residents are encouraged to submit to the inquiry being conducted by the Family and Community Development Committee, which was initiated by the Liberal National Coalition Government.
Eastern Victoria MP Philip Davis said the inquiry aimed to help make it easier for people with a mental illness to participate fully in the community.
He said a range of challenges often makes it harder for people with a mental illness to secure and hold down a job, with many facing discrimination as a result.
He said the Coalition Government wanted to significantly increase the employment rate of people with a mental illness.
“I encourage interested individuals, organisations and businesses to make a submission to assist Victorians with a mental illness overcome the challenges that restrict or prevent them entering the workforce,” Mr Davis said.
Submissions are due by 11 November, although extensions may be granted to ensure individuals and organisations have an opportunity to provide their views to the Victorian Parliament. For information, telephone 8682 2843,or visit www.parliament.vic.gov.au/fcdc.
