IT WAS all song and dance at the Berwick Fields Primary School on Monday.
Choirs from Cranbourne West Primary School and Brentwood Park Primary joined three Berwick Fields Primary School choirs at the schools’ Choral and Dance Festival in the new state-of-the-art Starbright Theatre.
Helen Ryan, Berwick Fields performing arts teacher and director of the Berwick Fields choirs, said the purpose of the event was to give children an opportunity to hear other choirs perform and to share the school’s new venue with the community.
Ms Ryan said all choirs performed a variety of songs including a Maori song, a jazz song, an item where choir members played kazoos, and two part songs which were performed by Berwick Fields Happy Harmonies group.
During the choir performances, Berwick Fields Primary School performing arts teacher Fiona Lardner conducted a dance workshop in the school’s dance studio, where students participated in dance activities and performed a dance routine with ribbons.
“The Choral and Dance Festival was an enjoyable afternoon for all those involved and the children commented that they were keen to repeat the event in future years,” Ms Ryan said.
