A 97-YEAR-OLD woman from Noble Park died and two Endeavour Hills residents were seriously injured in a head-on collision in Monbulk on Sunday afternoon.
Four other people, including two children, were injured in the crash on Monbulk Road.
Belgrave police Sergeant Michael Stuebner said a sedan was travelling north when the driver failed to take a slight bend and veered into the path of an oncoming four-wheel drive about 4pm.
The 97-year-old woman was a rear passenger in the sedan and died at the scene.
The 71-year-old driver, an Endeavour Hills man, and a second passenger, a 69-year-old Endeavour Hills woman, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 49-year-old Emerald man was driving the four-wheel drive. He and a two-year-old boy, also from Emerald, were taken to Maroondah Hospital with minor injuries.
An 11-year-old Emerald boy was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.
A 39-year-old woman, also from Emerald, was airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries.
