Police said a 16-year-old was waiting to be picked up from a private party at a leisure centre adjacent to Berwick Secondary College in Manuka Road on 29 October.
While waiting, he was king-hit from behind and knocked unconscious. He was treated by paramedics at the scene and transported to Dandenong Hospital. He suffered a fractured skull but is currently in stable condition.
Police said they are looking for a man described as non-Caucasian, possibly Pacific Islander appearance, and he was wearing a green and maroon basketball top.
He was seen with two other men also of the same appearance.
