FROM start to finish, it was a shocker week for Endeavour Hills who was trounced in Saturday’s home game one-dayer and Tuesday’s Twenty20.
As Endeavour Hills’ two openers walked to the middle to face the first ball of Saturday’s one-dayer against the Victorian Sub-District’s best team, Caulfield, number three batter Richie Evans was sick in the bathroom.
Hills coach John Hayes attempted to restructure his batting line up without his first drop, but he didn’t have long as opener Justin Merlino departed for one.
The make-shift batting card was thrown into disarray as Chris and Neal Peake were bumped up the order, but departed for ducks, closely followed by brother Shane for 2 and Hayes for another duck.
At 6/20, the question for Caulfied was not whether they would win, but by how much.
They didn’t have long to wait as the Hills were bowled for 85, with Ben Law (44) the only batter to leave an impact on the scoreboard.
Caulfield required only five batters and less than 20 overs to remain undefeated.
Tuesday night was just as damaging as Oakleigh skittled the visiting Hills, before chasing down the required 70 within 11 overs.
The Hills top order failed to adjust to the slow, tacky deck and at 4/8 they had once again played themselves out of the contest.
Hayes made a solid 26 while second’s player Jaime Wijeyerante contributed with 14.
