Park is repaired

WORKS to repair more than 40 trails and tracks at Lysterfield Park are complete.
Lysterfield Park was closed in February due to a storm, which damaged 90 per cent of bike trails, walking tracks and park infrastructure.
Parks Victoria spent $400,000 as part of its flood recovery program to repair, resurface and rebuild the damaged roads and trails.
Gembrook MP Brad Battin and Ferntree Gully MP Nick Wakeling announced the re-opening of the Commonwealth Games Track at Lysterfield Park on 22 December, marking the completion of all the works.
Mr Wakeling invited riders back to the park over summer and thanked volunteers from Lysterfield District Trail Riders, trail builders World Trail and local operator Trailmix for their reinstatement works at the park.
“I’d like to thank the community for their patience during the recovery period,” Mr Wakeling said. “Lysterfield Park is now better than ever for visitors looking for a great place to get out and get healthy in the outdoors this summer.”
Lysterfield Park has numerous recreation opportunities including horse riding, bush walking, bike riding, water sports and many picnic areas.
The works complement the significant flood recovery at the You Yangs Regional Park mountain bike tracks.
