SUMMER rangers have been working at nineteen different parks across the state, including Lysterfield Park.
There are sixteen new and eleven returning rangers helping Parks Victoria staff over the busy Summer including Environmental Science student Tim Jansen who is working at Lysterfield Park.
Summer Rangers are recruited through a partnership with La Trobe, Monash, Deakin, Swinburne and RMIT universities and have the opportunity to learn practical skills and make a real contribution during their placements through a wide range of projects.
Mr Jansen is helping to restore the Lysterfield Mountain Bike Trail System, does regular park patrols, park maintenance and helps visitors. He’s also doing an audit of the signage in the park.
Ranger in Charge John Goodman said having extra staff means Parks Victoria can protect the parks, keep things running smoothly and give visitors a high level of service.
