Persistence pays off

YEARS of playing the same numbers in Tattslotto have paid off for a Noble Park pair who struck it rich on the weekend.
The Noble Park grandmother and her daughter, who asked not to be named, won $432,850 on Saturday night after purchasing a System 8 entry from Endeavour Lotto in the Endeavour Hills Shopping Centre.
The grandmother said she watched the televised draw on Saturday night and saw her numbers drop.
“My daughter and I have been playing the same eight numbers in Tattslotto for many years, so when I saw the numbers drop, one by one, from the draw machine, I immediately recognised them as ours,” she said. “I was surprisingly calm. I must have been in a state of shock!”
The grandmother called her daughter to tell her the exciting news, and she didn’t believe it until she saw the draw results online.
The grandmother said she planned to buy a new car, repair her home and take her husband on an overseas holiday. “As for my daughter, she’ll use her half of the prize money to pay off the mortgage,” she said. “I’ve always said to my children that if you win enough on Tattslotto to pay off the mortgage then you should be very happy. You don’t need anything more than that. It’s best not to be greedy.”
A Narre Warren woman also won a division one prize worth $432,850 in Tattslotto on Saturday with a System 8 entry purchased from Parkhill Berwick News and Lotto in Berwick. She plans to use the prize money to pay off her mortgage.
