Black day for Endeavour Hills

By Jarrod Potter
ENDEAVOUR HILLS was bowled out for 22 runs on Saturday as Oakleigh made fools out of the Eagles.
The top order needed resuscitation as the top three batsmen dialled 0, 0, 0 and the going from there only got worse. From 3/0, Endeavour Hills found new depths of despair to dig into as they reached 6/7.
Richard Saniga (14) was the only man into double digits as the tail took them to 22 from a measly 17.4 overs.
Endeavour Hills captain John Hayes summed up the performance as the worst he’s been involved in.
“It’s a total embarrassment,” Hayes said. “Probably the most embarrassing game of cricket I’ve ever played.
“We won the toss and batted, it was grassy and probably a bit more juice in it then I thought.
“I thought coming off 270 the week before, getting through the first hour and building from there would’ve been easily achievable.
“People will make excuses, but there’s no excuse for it, it’s just terrible.”
Endeavour Hills young bowling attack, Matt Aslett, Matt Foenander and firsts debutant Kusal Panditharatne, set about mitigating some of the damage caused by the batsmen and had Oakleigh 5/237 at stumps.
Endeavour Hills resume at Oakleigh on Saturday before playing at a one-day catch-up match against Malvern.
