By Lia Bichel
THE Hampton Park Fire Brigade has been running hot with donations from the local community, which will help them provide an invaluable service to the community.
The busy brigade have attended about 500 calls last calendar year, including several incidents during the February floods and a vast mix of factory fires, house fires, car accidents and community services.
With more than $8000 collected from a recent tin shake supported by the Melbourne host Lions Club, the brigade was able to buy and upgrade numerous items.
Hampton Park Fire Brigade fourth lieutenant Jason Mawer said the new and upgrades items would help the local fire-fighters continue their vital work throughout the community.
“Some items the brigade has been able to invest in with these donations are new chain saws, all weather jackets for members for when they are out in the public.
“Also Turbo Flare lights for added safety during night jobs, an in-car fridge for added work efficiency and many more items that greatly assist the brigade in there day to day service to the local community,” Mr Mawer said.
“The brigade would like to offer a big thankyou to the whole Hampton Park and Lynbrook area for their ongoing support to the brigade and hope it will continue through 2012.”
