Nature strip parking

IN ANSWER to Pauline Heatherton (News, 9 February) I have had to visit St John of God Hospital on numerous occasions since the start of this year.
I am semi-disabled and thankful that I could park my car on the nature strip because there were no vacant spaces in either of the two car parks provided.
On one occasion it was pouring rain when I arrived there, also it is a long walk from the western car park and it is all uphill then there is a dozen steps to climb at front entrance.
Lush green indeed, if the cars didn’t park on the nature strip it would have dead grass to one metre tall and therefore a fire hazard which would put lives and the hospital at risk.
I am a pensioner and cannot afford to pay parking fines. How grateful I am for the nature strip parking.
I wish Casey council would clear away a couple of the trees so there would be more space on the nature strip.
James Kemp,
Hampton Park.
