A CASEY councillor has called for an ANZAC War Memorial to be built in the River Gum Ward.
At a general purpose meeting last week, Cr Lynette Keleher asked the council officers to prepare a report on the building of a memorial in her ward, including cost and suitable locations.
She asked that council officers consult with appropriate representatives from the RSL during the preparation of the report.
Ms Keleher said she thought it would be great not only to have a memorial in her electorate, but in every ward at Casey.
Cr Keleher asked that consideration should be given to “possibly locating the memorial in the River Gum Wetlands in Hampton Park or somewhere central in River Gum Ward compared to the other existing ANZAC War Memorials in the City of Casey.”
A report will come back to council in June.
