A MOSSGIEL Park Primary School student was awarded for perfect attendance on Monday.
Grade six student Rebecca Valk has not missed a day of school in five years, resulting in a perfect attendance record.
After transferring to the Endeavour Hills primary school in grade two, the pupil has attended school each day, and staff members feel this is an important achievement to recognise.
Welfare Officer for the school Lynn Pentland said that Rebecca is a great example for younger students.
“She is a great role model,” she said.
“The younger students see the trophy and think they might like to have one of them as well.”
Ms Pentland said the student has always been an avid contributor to the school and its activities.
“She has always had great participation and is always at school events,” she said.
The Welfare Officer mentioned the school also acknowledges the commitment from parents, as well as students.
“It is a reflection of the family’s commitment to education,” she said.
She emphasised that without the parents, the children would not have been able to achieve this.
Other students were also recognised during the presentation on Monday.
There were four students in the school who have not missed a day in four years, as well as five students who have not missed a day in three years.
Ms Pentland, who has been tracking the attendance of students, said that attendance is an important part of the schools culture.
