THE wait was finally over for year 12 students when VCE results came out on Monday morning.
Many were strangers to a sleep in on the day when results came through at 7am for those who chose to receive them via text, and 9am for those who looked on the internet.
There was a mix of emotions among students after the release of this year’s results, with teachers also feeling the sense of relief.
Hampton Park Secondary College was among the schools in Casey to receive great results.
Senior School manager Steven Silestean said the teachers at the school were pleased with the overall results, particularly with the success of year 11s completing year 12 subjects.
“From what we can see our study scores over 40 have improved,” he said.
“What is pleasing is that a number of results have come from year 11 students doing a year 12 subject, which means they have set themselves up for next year,” Mr Silestean said.
Other secondary schools pleased with the success of students include Fountain Gate Secondary, as well as Cranbourne Secondary College.
Principal of Cranbourne Secondary Ken Robinson said the results of his pupils were very pleasing.
“We are really pleased with results of the students, who have achieved beyond our expectations,” he said.
“We have some outstanding individual performances, including five students who achieved over 90.”
A particularly successful student from Cranbourne Secondary College was Kevin Tangga, receiving an ATAR of 92.
The high score allows him to complete his arts degree at Monash University next year, with hopes to transfer to law the following year.
If this wasn’t exciting enough, on Monday afternoon the Berwick resident was awarded with a Monash University Community Leaders Scholarship, which entitles him to the role of an Access Monash Ambassador.
The scholarship, which Paulo’s brother was also presented, includes 6000 from Monash.
Kevin attributes his great success in year 12 to hard work and planning.
“It’s all about motivation and self-discipline,” he said.
“You have to stick to your plan and never lose sight of your goal.”
