Flipping out for fun on the run

VERY rarely will the toss of a pancake determine the winner of a race, but this is the case for Berwick resident Claire Armstrong.
Hopeful she stays faithful to her last name, Claire will need more than just a little arm strength to flip her over the line in the annual tradition.
Hand and eye co-ordination plus some serious speed will be two more factors helpful in pouring this pancake player some pennies.
On Tuesday 12 February, crowds will flock to the Flagstaff Gardens to witness an event not commonly seen.
In order to celebrate Shrove Tuesday, more commonly known as Pancake Day, the annual Ladies Pancake Tossing Race will take place once again.
The mad dash will see participants race 380 metres while tossing pancakes, dressed in the traditional attire – skirts, aprons and head scarves.
The race is held to honour an English tradition and the winner of the competition will be awarded $300.
Women from across the state will gather at the starting line for the Pancake Parlour event, hoping their speed and skill will see them secure some hard-earned cash.
