Teen suicide fight

NEW CEO of Windermere, Doctor Lynette Buoy proudly thanked representatives from the Dominion Hotel Group for supporting Windermere’s new initiative.
Members from both Windermere and the Dominion Hotel Group met at Berwick Springs Hotel on Tuesday, to discuss a new suicide prevention program which has begun.
The new program was implemented in the wake of an increased number of suicides throughout the City of Casey, with the Dominion Hotel Group set to assist in financing the new program.
Dr Buoy thanked those from the hotel group, while also recognising the importance of the new suicide awareness initiative.
“It is a great example of a prevention program going straight into the community,” the CEO said.
“We are creating a range of people in the community who will develop a wide set of skills.”
Human Resources Manager from Dominion, Anna Makin, presented Windermere with a cheque to kick-start the funding.
Ms Makin said her company was more than willing to help with the project.
“We asked Windermere the simple question, what’s the best way we can help?” she said.
“It became clear that the suicide prevention program was the most pressing issue for us to directly assist them with.”
Other organisations which will support the program include The Sidney Myer Fund and the Cardinia Foundation.
Windermere has already begun workshops, which are open at a cost for anyone from any profession to attend.
If you, or anyone you know is experiencing feelings of depression, phone the beyondblue helpline on 1300 224 636.
