THERE was no mention of Prime Minister Julia Gillard when her predecessor visited Kambrya College on Thursday last week.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Kevin Rudd continued to do the rounds in the City of Casey, this time with La Trobe MP Laura Smyth.
On Monday, he travelled to Doveton with Holt MP Anthony Byrne to present local volunteers and the John Pandazopoulos Hall Committee of Management with a Holt Community Spirit Award at the John Pandazopoulos Hall in Doveton.
He was then treated like a rock star by students at Hallam Senior Secondary College, where he helped Holt MP Anthony Byrne open the new Hallam Valley Trade Training Centre.
The students at Kambrya College showed the same enthusiasm on Thursday when he made an appearance at their school assembly.
Principal Michael Muscat gave the former Prime Minister a warm welcoming and said the school had benefited greatly since receiving funding from the Federal LAbor Government- including receiving 1000 laptops for student use.
Mr Rudd spoke to the school about the Labor Federal Government’s achievements when he was Prime Minister and gave students tips for choosing a career path.
“First is finding what you are passionate about, then you have to work hard at it and be the best you can be,” Mr Rudd said.
“Third is when you leave (school), you go out and conquer the world. Don’t let anything stand in your way. The future lies in opportunities which will open up to you in the world.”
