Woman injured in fatal smash

A BERWICK woman has been injured in a fatal crash at Dixons Creek that claimed the life of a Dandenong woman.
Police believe a semi-trailer jack-knifed on the Melba Highway which caused it to collide with two other vehicles heading in the opposite direction around 8.20pm on Sunday night
A Dandenong woman aged in her 50s, who was the sole occupant of a Mitsubishi van, died at the scene.
A 29-year-old woman from Pakenham Upper was driving a Nissan Navara and towing a horse float.
She and her passenger, a 21-year-old woman from Berwick, were taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
One horse died at the scene and the other was euthanized by a local ranger.
The truck driver, a 41-year-old Swan Hill man, was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition.
