Get on board the Dee-Train

CASEY footy fans are being urged to jump aboard the Dee-Train to the MCG this weekend and head to the annual City of Casey Round.
The Melbourne Football Club (MFC) will take on Greater Western Sydney at 1.10pm on Sunday in the annual themed round which promotes Casey and celebrates the council’s 30-year partnership with MFC.
City of Casey manager of sport and leisure Richard Amon said for the first time, through the support of Metro Trains, residents of the area can join other fans on the Dee-Train which will depart Pakenham Station at 11.13am on match day.
“The 11.13 am train will stop at each station along the Pakenham line on the way to the game at the MCG,” he said.
“The 11.18 am train from Cranbourne will allow supporters to join the Dee-Train at Dandenong Station at 11.41 am.
“On-board will be the club’s mascot, face painters, plenty of festive fun and, the best part is, a Myki Weekend Daily fare is only $3.50.
“In another first this year, a new program run by Melbourne Football Club, ‘Your City, Your Club’ encourages residents from Cranbourne, Berwick, Hallam and surrounding suburbs to come to the footy.
“The program includes free entry to the game, family and children’s activities and fun activities aboard the Dee-Train and a Melbourne showbag for all children.”
City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon encouraged residents to unite and show their support for the MFC.
“Through a 30-year partnership with the City of Casey, MFC undertake a number of fantastic community programs throughout Casey and promote the City of Casey to a larger audience through activities such as the City of Casey Round at the MCG,” she said.
“The City of Casey is extremely proud to have MFC delivering a wide range of programs and initiatives which provide a number of great benefits to the Casey community.”
For those new to the game MFC staff will also meet families at the game to explain the rules and share the experience.
