Rotarians search for art

By BRIDGET SCOTT

THE Rotary Club of Casey will display the artistic talents of the local community this July, when the club hosts its inaugural Art Show.
After witnessing the success of other art shows hosted by local Rotary groups, Casey is following in a similar direction in another venture to benefit the community.
In a bid to raise more money for local organisations, the Rotary Club will host the show from Friday 5 July until Sunday 7 July, including a gala event on the Friday evening.
The Rotary Club of Casey projects’ manager Lindsay Rigby said it was another way the club could give back to the community.
“We are looking at ways to raise money to put back into the community,” he said.
“The bulk of the money will go to the local community and charities.”
Mr Rigby said members of the club thought areas such as Berwick had good candidates for entries to the show.
“Berwick has always been an artistic sort of area,” he said.
With the initiative having already welcomed approximately 55 entries, the rotary member said he is hoping for around 350-400 pieces to be submitted.
Anyone is welcome to enter the art competition, with entries closing on 10 June – artists with work shortlisted will be notified on 25 June.
The official announcement of the award winners will be done at the Gala evening, which can be attended at a cost of $35.
Admission to view the artwork over the weekend is only $5.
With high hopes for a successful show, members are excited for the event, which will be held at Berwick TAFE, in Kangan Drive, Berwick.
