Last chance to Pushstart

IT’S the last chance for young musically talented people in the City of Casey to enter the 2013 Pushstart Battle of the Bands competition.
Applications for the City of Casey and Spectrum Entertainment’s 2013 Pushstart Battle of the Bands competition close tomorrow Friday 31 May.
Competitors must be aged between 15 and 21 years and not have a current recording contract, publishing or distribution deal.
City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon encouraged emerging artists to join the competition and said it was a fantastic way to share their talents with the community.
“The battle of the bands offers our rising stars a great opportunity to entertain audiences and gain some new fans,” Cr Stapledon said.
“Casey’s younger generation has a wealth of talent which needs to be supported and celebrated through this event; we aim to bring these talents to centre stage.”
Application forms are available from council’s youth website at www.insideinfo.casey.vic.gov.au and from all City of Casey customer service centres and youth information centres.
The competition will be run over two heats and a final:
· Heat One: Friday 5 July at Cranbourne Public Hall
· Heat Two: Friday 12 July at Narre Community Learning Centre
· Final: Friday 26 July at Cranbourne Public Hall
Tickets to all events are available at the door for $10 with a pass or $12 without a pass. Winners of the final receive a recording/rehearsal package courtesy of Pony Music and will go on to represent the City of Casey in the Southern Metropolitan Regional Final, with the winner of that going on to the State Final which will be held at Pushover 2013.
The 2013 City of Casey and Spectrum Entertainment Pushstart Battle of the Bands is a fully supervised, drug, alcohol and smoke-free, all ages event.
