TOES will be tappin’ heads will be noddin’ when a group of musicians give Tamworth a taste of their talent at the country music festival next year.
At a council meeting on 7 May, Councillor Wayne Smith moved a motion which asked for council’s support in sending a group from the City of Casey to perform at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The City of Casey council passed a motion last week, agreeing to support a contingent from the local area in travelling to the festival, next year.
Cr Smith was pleased to see that council supported all of his requests.
“Everything was approved,” he said.
“Everything that we asked for, we received.”
The support will include $5000 of sponsorship which will be utilised to assist in costs of venue hire, technical requirements and promotional material, plus more.
Cr Smith mentioned there is already a group of locals on board who are keen to ensure the success of this venture.
“There is a hard working group of people dedicated to making it happen,” he said.
Planning for the festival will begin in a few weeks, and Cr Smith said he hoped to do a preview show in the City of Casey before the group headed off.
The musicians have already locked in two performance dates at Tamworth on 21 and 23 January.
City of Casey resident Cathy Dobson, who will be among the locals to perform at Tamworth next year, thinks it is a great idea.
“I think it’s fantastic because there are so many country music people in the City of Casey,” she said.
“A lot of people here are interested.”
