THE Rotary Club of Narre Warren will oversee the development of a path around an unused piece of land in Narre Warren.
A land which contains a lake, near Victor Crescent in Narre Warren, and located directly behind Bunning’s will have a path constructed, encircling the entire perimeter of water.
Narre Warren Rotarian Tim Fisher is excited to start planning the new track that was recently given primary approval by Melbourne Water.
Mr Fisher said this was the biggest step for the initial stages.
“That’s the biggest step – it’s all about,” he said.
“If they didn’t give it (approval), it would’ve been a non-starter.”
Mr Fisher said the group was currently looking for funding, and was hopeful the local council would be supportive of the club’s plans.
The path, which Mr Fisher hopes will start being built later this year, will include four exercise stations, such as step-ups, sit-up benches and more.
“There will be a number of exercise stations dotted around the path’s route,” Mr Fisher said.
The Rotary is also hopeful they may be able to get some corporate sponsors onboard, to whom they would dedicate some of the workout stations, too.
Mr Fisher said he believed this was a great chance to make use of the land.
“It is a great opportunity to provide a facility for the working community and broader community of Narre Warren,” he said.
“It’s a nice piece of land and has some great views.”
With designs still in the pipeline, Mr Fisher said after the works began he would be looking for it to be finished as soon as possible.
