A TEENAGER is the first Girl Guide in 17 years to have her name added to one of the honour plaques at the Narre Warren North Guides Hall.
Brittany Grimshaw, 13, was awarded for her hard work last Saturday, when she received her junior BP Badge and had her name added to one of the honour plaques.
Kelly Liebelt, who already has her name on a plaque at the Guide hall, was also presented with her Silver Endeavour Badge.
While Kelly is in her eighth year of guides, and Brittany is in her sixth, both girls have worked on personal challenges in the past year to get them where they are today.
The awards were presented to the girls by Guide leader Kirsty Pascoe and Assistant State Commissioner Lynne Emblim.
About 50 people attended the ceremony on 6 July in which both of the girls were presented with badges to add to their sashes.
The Silver Endeavour Badge which Kelly was presented with marks her achievement as being halfway towards her BP badge – the next badge above the junior BP Badge.
Guide Assistant at the hall Anne Rem explained that the achievements were ‘a really big deal.’
“We have not had anyone added to our honour plaque at the hall since 1996,” she said.
“These girls really are to be commended on their fantastic achievements.”
Anne also emphasised that these were not easy accomplishments.
“They are quite complex and are designed to really push them,” she said.
