THE development of a path around an unused piece of land in Narre Warren is one step closer to happening after the City of Casey agreed to support the project.
The new one kilometre track, overseen by the Rotary Club of Narre Warren, is situated near Victor Crescent in Narre Warren and will run around the perimeter of a lake.
Casey councillors Louise Berkelmans and Sam Aziz met with Narre Warren Rotarians Phil McMillan and Tim Fisher recently to confirm the track’s development.
Mr Fisher said the path will include four exercise stations, including step-ups, sit-up benches and more.
“There will be a number of exercise stations dotted around the path’s route,” Mr Fisher said.
Melbourne Water have indicated support for the project, while the Rotary is also hopeful some corporate sponsors will get on board, to whom they plan to dedicate some of the workout stations too.
Mr Fisher said he believed this was a great chance to make use of the land.
“It is a great opportunity to provide a facility for the working community and broader community of Narre Warren,” he said.
“It’s a nice piece of land and has some great views.”
With designs still in the pipeline, Mr Fisher said after the works began he would be looking for it to be finished as soon as possible.
