NOSSAL High School was the host of this year’s great art show, held as part of the South Eastern Arts Festival.
Schools in the region collectively submitted 560 paintings for the show, of which the best entries were selected and presented.
Director of the South Eastern Arts Festival Calvin Bell was blown away with this year’s event, which ran from last Thursday night to Sunday.
“It was excellent, one of the best shows we’ve had,” he said.
“The standard of art was incredible, from kids aged eight years old to adults aged 98 years old!”
Runner-up in last year’s event, student Andrew Bardac, was crowned the 2013 winner of the Perpetual Trophy for his artwork “The Hands That Hold Us Back”, for which he was also presented with $400 by Sir Gustav Nossal. Artist Di King was also victorious, taking home the award for the premium best painting which was also presented by Sir Gus.
Mr Bell congratulated the winners and re-iterated the high-calibre of entries, making special mention of the scratchboard section.
