Healthy eating dished out

By BRIDGET COOK

CHILDREN at Coral Drive Kindergarten dug deep to learn all about healthy eating this week.
Staff from Bunnings Cranbourne visited the Hampton Park kindergarten on Monday to plant a vegetable garden with the children.
Early childhood educator Cathy Hall, from Coral Drive Kindergarten, said the activity taught the children a lot.
“It was an extension of a program we had just been running with the children about recycling,” she said.
“It also helped build on our sustainability program we do with the kids and tied in with our healthy eating program.
“The knowledge the Bunnings staff gave the children was more in depth than what we knew about it.”
Ms Hall said the children enjoyed the activity.
“All the children were involved in planting the seedlings and had a ball,” she said.
“We now can’t wait to make a salad out of the vegies once they have grown.”
