Tri-Codes lights up the track

IT WAS hard to know which way to look at the Cranbourne Racing Complex on Friday night when the local landscape lit up as greyhound, harness and thoroughbred racing shared centre stage at the phenomenally popular Tri-Codes meeting.
The unique event provided rapid-fire entertainment for the large crowd on hand with eight races from each code combining to provide a 24-race spectacular.
Highlights of the night included winning doubles for local greyhound trainers Chris Johannsen and Jason Thompson, the latter taking out the night’s feature race when Phenomenal took out the $10,000 City of Casey Cup.
The harness racing program provided plenty of competitive racing while the grass-track entertainment saw local hoop Brian Higgins also score a double for local trainers John Allen and Colin and Cindy Alderson.
The Aldersons claimed bragging rights for trainers with two winners on the night while the Robbie Griffiths trained Chow Meow took out the feature $30,000 City of Casey Showcase.
Racing returns to Cranbourne this Saturday, 30 November.
