Hoon set to lose job after writing off car

A P-PLATER has lost his licence – as well as writing off his turbo-powered car – after crashing off the road during a burnout session in an Endeavour Hills residential street on a Wednesday afternoon.
At Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Velibor Mitrovic pleaded guilty to driving in a dangerous manner and driving a car model prohibited for P-plate drivers.
Police prosecutor Jodi Kellow told the court that Mitrovic was seen dropping burnouts and fishtails and making “a lot of noise” in a yellow Ford XR6 Turbo on Monteith Crescent on 29 May about 2.30pm.
Senior Constable Kellow said an eyewitness then heard “two bangs” as Mitrovic lost control of his car, striking a ute parked on a nature strip and then a tree.
“The only time it was dangerous was when I lost traction,” Mitrovic allegedly told police investigators.
“What’s happened?” magistrate Tom Hassard asked Mitrovic at the hearing as he examined photographs of the crash.
“(Your car) is right up there inside the property line.
“Your licence has to go and should go given the circumstances.
“That’s dangerous in the extreme from what I’ve heard and what you’ve accepted (as the prosecution case).
“There could have been anyone around (at that time of day).”
Mitrovic, who had a prior speeding offence, said he was “stupid” and would lose his job as a security guard if he lost his licence.
“The law doesn’t allow an exemption,” Mr Hassard said, handing down a conviction, a $1000 fine and disqualifying Mitrovic from driving for eight months.
