SETH Sleep couldn’t wipe the smile off his face after the seven-year-old leukaemia patient was reunited with the Melbourne Stars cricket team at Casey Fields last December.
Since his diagnosis in 2012, the young Narre Warren South resident has developed a relationship with the cricket side and met them once again on Sunday 15 December.
His father Simon described it as a fantastic afternoon and said his son came home all smiles after an afternoon of photos and autographs from the cricket stars.
At the start of the 2012/13 cricket season, Seth joined Milo In2 Cricket at the Narre Warren South Cricket club, who then contacted Cricket Australia to tell them about their brave new recruit and the battle he and the Sleep family were going through.
Since then, Seth has met the Melbourne Stars more than once and has been a valued guest at games.
Through the winter season, Seth was invited to tour the Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia offices, look at the Sports Museum in the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and had a MCG tour.
Seth is nearly halfway through his chemotherapy treatment and his father Simon is convinced that his sons relationship with the cricket association has helped Seth through his treatment.
At the Casey Fields meeting last month, Seth also got the chance to give the Captain Cameron White a Christmas card he had made for the team with a picture he drew on the bottom.
Mr Sleep said “I’m not sure if Seth had a bigger smile on his face when he wrote it, or when Cameron was reading it.”
With a special place in his heart for the entire cricket team, Seth and his family hope to meet the team again soon.
