A NARRE Warren P-plater was left devastated this week after a car smash left her Holden Commodore a write-off.
Kayla Barallon, 18, was in the pool at her Hugo Court residence when a car collided with her parked Commodore at 7pm on Saturday.
Kayla said there were several neighbours in the street at the time who were lucky not to get hit by the car.
She said there had been an ongoing problem with drivers in the area.
“With the new islands being built along Kurrajong Road, you would think drivers would slow down, instead they are using backstreets to avoid the islands.”
Kayla said there were at least 10 witnesses to the crash, which sounded like a “gunshot”.
She said the damage to her car would leave her out of pocket.
“Yes it was just a car that was badly damaged, lucky it was no person or animal but it has now left a major inconvenience for me and my family, especially starting a brand new TAFE course next week,” Kayla said.
“It has resulted in taking a step back in life and, yes, I am covered by insurance but with a 2000 Holden Commodore only going for market value, I will only get half of what I have originally paid for 10 months ago.
“Therefore, I am going to need money which I don’t have, or any 18-year-old student who funds for him or herself.”
