IN REPLY to John Glazebrook’s letter (Alternative Anzac, News, 6 February) I totally disagree with a number of his views.
The men who served in WWI were all volunteers and it has been written in many publications, they were fine soldiers.
So why put doubt on their sacrifice?
One must remember the soldiers on the front line voted against conscription in WWI as they would prefer to fight with a volunteer than a conscripted soldier.
The Anzac Spirit was born out of mateship and the will to help your mate.
They have shown us with their courage and strength of character through extreme hardship what Australians are all about, of which I am proud to be one.
As for today, the Anzac Spirit still lives on, helping your fellow man, with natural disasters such as fires, floods, storms etc.
So why doubt their effects to keep us free?
