EAGER students from a Berwick primary school were given a chance to chase their dreams last week.
On Friday, students from Berwick Chase were encouraged to come to school dressed up for ‘I Want 2 Be’ day, an initiative created to support the Kids’ Cancer Project, with all proceeds going to the charity.
The students came dressed as what they wanted to be when they grew up, from bakers to doctors and vets to artists.
Berwick Chase Grade 1 and 2 teacher Kathryn Brehaut said the event gave the students a perspective on life and helped them to understand that not everyone was given the chance to pursue their dreams.
She said the support given by both the student and teaching body from Berwick Chase to the Kids’ Cancer Project had been heartening for the community.
“The kids from the student representative council have really taken the initiative on board,” she said.
“They publicised the initiative and got a raffle going.”
The Kids’ Cancer Project is an Australian charity focused on finding cures and saving children’s lives, ending the heartbreak that childhood cancer brings to many families.
The project is currently focused on finding cures for brain tumours and neuroblastoma, with almost half of the children who suffer from these types of cancer losing their battle.
