I urge local residents to join the campaign for a much needed crossing on Pound Road, near the Hampton Park Seniors Centre and bowls club.
I have been down to the site, I have met with concerned local residents and members of the Hampton Park Seniors Centre and bowls club and I have heard their very real concerns.
Barbara, an elderly resident of the nearby retirement village, simply refuses to go any further than the seniors’ centre.
She cannot and will not even attempt to cross the road. It’s just not safe.
Neil Shepard, president of the Hampton Park Seniors Centre, has done an outstanding job of raising awareness of this issue and collecting over 500 signatures for a petition to the City of Casey.
We must now take the next step and that’s why I have organised a petition calling on the Napthine Government to fund the construction of the crossing.
I will be raising this matter in Parliament and requesting that the Minister for Roads, Terry Mulder, comes out to Hampton Park to see just how bad it truly is for local residents.
If you would like to join the campaign and sign the petition, head on down to the Hampton Park Seniors Centre and bowls club or contact my office on 9704 6055.
