Aladdin mystery deepens

By BRIDGET COOK

BATS Theatre Company will bring to life the magic and mystery of Aladdin during the April school holidays.
Cranbourne Community Theatre will come alive with an adaptation of the traditional Aladdin story, presented by a talented youth cast.
Jamie Symonds is playing the role of Aladdin and Aadyn Goodlet has been cast the Genie, with the show being directed by Susan Bergman and assisted by Thomas Out.
Jamie’s mother Jacqui Symonds said the cast and crew had put in a lot of hours for the past couple of months and urged people to head along and check out the show.
“It is shaping up to be a very entertaining show,” she said.
“This show is not just for the young ones either, it is great entertainment value for only $12 a ticket.
“There’s a little intrigue, mystery, action and, of course, a little romance.”
The adapted story, by Adlib Entertainment, follows the story of street urchin Aladdin as he tries to save the small but thriving Daily Scroll from Arabian newspaper mogul, Gassin.
He is not able to do much with just the clothes on his back and an old lamp, until he realises the lamp is magical and gives him three wishes.
As the genie appears, chaos follows and Aladdin is thrown into the world of big business and true love.
There will be five shows between Tuesday 8 and Friday 11 April at the Cranbourne Community Theatre, corner of Brunt Street and Codrington Street.
Shows will be at 7pm on the Tuesday and Thursday and at matinee at 2pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
To book tickets call 0422 096 768 or visit http://tiny.cc/a6hobx.
Tickets will be available at the door, if not sold out prior.
