LEARN how to help the environment or simply enjoy some bird watching and local wildlife at the free River Gum Creek Community Day on Saturday.
The Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority (PPWCMA) is hosting a free community day for people in the surrounding area.
The day will include planting of 700 Indigenous trees and shrubs in the reserve, Melbourne Water water watch activities, bird watching with local experts as well as face painting, showbags, giveaways and lunch.
PPWCMA Living Links co-ordinator Mary-Kate Hockey said the day was for anyone who would like to learn about, help or simply enjoy their local environment.
“People of all ages are welcome to come along to plant some plants, talk to local wildlife experts or simply enjoy the free activities and lunch,” she said.
“The River Gum Creek Reserve and wetland is a beautiful area.
“We hope this day will help the community to further appreciate their local area and learn how to protect it.”
The event is one of many activities run through the PPWCMA’s Living Links project. The day is funded through the Victorian Government and the Environment Protection Authority’s Inspiring Environmental Solutions Program.
The event will run from 9am to noon on Saturday 5 April at the River Gum Creek Reserve, Kilberry Boulevard, Hampton Park. It is the park located next to Kilberry Valley Primary School.
The PPWPCMA has asked anyone planning on coming along to RSVP for catering purposes by emailing mary-kate.hockey@ppwcma.vic.gov.au or calling 8781 7943.
