Volunteers honoured

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

CASEY will play host to a popular exhibition which will be held this month as part of the 25th National Volunteer Week.
Outlook, the Pakenham-based community centre, will be one of several organisations joining together for the Volunteer Expo outside Madcap Café in Westfield Fountain Gate next Wednesday and Thursday as part of National Volunteer Week – 12 to 18 May.
Outlook volunteer co-ordinator Sarah Kelly said the special week allowed her organisation to recognise its 60 volunteers who give up their time to service the Cardinia and Casey communities.
“National Volunteer Week enables us to dedicate and honour our volunteers through time that they so selflessly give up to us,” she said.
“On the 25th National Volunteer Week, we join with other organisations to celebrate our exceptionally skilled volunteers who are not only an asset to our company, but to the way we provide services and support our community as well.”
Volunteering Australia CEO Brett Williamson commended the National Volunteer Week initiative ahead of its milestone birthday.
“With 6 million volunteers nationally, we are thrilled to acknowledge their hard work and dedication, through educating the community about the role volunteers play in society and change the way they are perceived,” she said.
“They truly are at the benefit of every organisation.”
